Hygiene
Oral hygiene is as important as your medical health. As a matter of fact, oral health is shown to be connected to overall medical health. A good oral regimen should be learned early in life, starting as a baby, and continue through adulthood. The goal is to keep the mouth, gums, jaw, and teeth healthy and to maintain as many natural teeth as possible.
Brushing and flossing twice a day, as well as using an antibacterial mouthwash is the basis of a good oral regimen. This cleaning at home is the most effective way to keep plaque and bacteria from accumulating on the teeth and allowing cavities to develop.
A six-month professional cleaning (prophylaxis) is also recommended. No amount of brushing and flossing will prevent 100% of plaque from forming. The professional cleanings are to clear away the plaque that brushes cannot.
Toothbrushes should fit easily into the size and shape of your mouth. The toothbrush should have soft bristles and be able to reach the back teeth. Toothbrushes should be replaced every six months. If you are attending your six-month cleanings, you will receive a new toothbrush from Baum Dental Clinic, making it easier to remember to change it.
Baum Dental Clinic is dedicated to keeping the mouths of you and your entire family as healthy as possible.
