Dental Bridges

Whether you have one tooth missing or more, a dental bridge may be the answer to repairing your smile. Baum Dental Clinic offers dental bridges to lost teeth.

A bridge is a metal or porcelain frame with replacement teeth attached and custom-crafted for your mouth. The frame is attached to abutting teeth to remain stable. The teeth are typically color-matched to the remaining teeth of the mouth to provide a natural appearance, although materials such as gold have been chosen for the replacements.

There are four different types of bridges to choose from.

The most popular type of bridge is the traditional bridge. The bridge is bonded to two crowns that have been placed over the two abutting teeth.

A more conservative option is a Maryland bridge. The frame is bonded directly to the back of the two abutting teeth without the use of crowns. The procedure takes less time and is more cost-effective.

A Cantilever bridge is designed to attach only to one crown. This allows for tooth replacement when there are not two teeth for bonding.

The most stable option is the implant-supported bridge. Instead of bonding to simply two crowns, it is bonded to two implants (with crowns). The procedure takes longer, but this is the strongest bridge available.
